4 weeks!!

Well the boys have been in our lives for just over 4 weeks now. It seems like they have been here forever 😀

So let’s back track a bit and everyone caught up to speed.

So we went to our 37 week appointment knowing it was our last one because we were having the boys the next week.

Well at our appointment on the ultrasound the boys were measuring about a pound apart so the doctor was wanting to go get them yet that week. So we moved our c-section from February 15th to that Friday February 10th.

So we came home and packed up our things (I know I should have packed long ago but I didn’t 😀), Makayla’s things and what we would need for the boys. We met my parents the next night for supper and to give them Makayla for the next few days. After supper we checked into our hotel and tried to go to sleep so we could be at the hospital by 5:30 the next day.

We got to the hospital all checked in and what seems like no time at all it was almost 7:30 I was prepped and so was Andrew for surgery. We walked back to the OR and we were getting closer to meeting the boys. The next bit of time seems kind of like a blur I was walked into the or given my spinal laid down, prepped, and before I knew it Andrew was at my head and they were getting started.

Baby A (Kolby) was born at 8:04 and baby b (Kayson) was born at 8:05. I got to see both before they were taken to the nicu to be checked out.

Everyone checked out great and was able to come to recovery with me 😀. We spent most of that day cuddling and getting to know the boys. That afternoon Makayla and my parents came down to visit and Makayla was so excited to meet the boys 😍

We got to come home a few days later and have been working on figuring out our new normal ever since. The boys have been growing and changing every day. Makayla loves them so much which has totally helped our transition. Here are some pictures from the last 4 weeks around here

Holiday Weekend Highlights

Happy Memorial Day everyone!! What a great day to remember all those who gave their all to ensure our freedom.

We have had a great weekend that was both fun, relaxing, and productive. Here’s a recap of all our fun.

Friday/Saturday:

Friday night Makayla and I took off for my parents house to spend Friday night and part of Saturday with them. We had a great time hanging out and then going to Junquefest on Saturday morning. Makayla even got her very own 4-wheeler which she loved 😍

This girl has a serious love for her papa. They are two peas in a pod.

Sunday

Sunday was our productive day of the weekend. My parents came over to our house to watch Makayla while we worked. Andrew had taken one day earlier this week and then Saturday morning to get the deck ready so we could refinish and stain the deck on Sunday. So while my parents were here we restained the deck, ripped out our fence, and did some much needed maintenance around the house.

Here is Makayla “cheersing” my mom.

Sunday night we had a bonfire to relax. We had some friends over and began burning the fence 😀

Monday

Today was spent together. We played outside, colored, read stories. It was a great family day. To close out the holiday weekend we went to a friends house for a grill out.

It was a great weekend filled with lots of fun and memories. Now off to finish the last week of work before summer officially begins!!

Weekend Fun

The past two weekends we have experienced “fake spring” and it has been AMAZING!! Temps in the 60s have been a great break from winters gloom. We have had a great time and makes it hard to go back to the cold during the week.
Here are some fun things we have been up to;

1) wagon rides

We bought this wagon from some friends right before Christmas and were so excited for her to try it and she loves it! I actually got in it with her and Andrew pulled us around 😂😂

2) Park playing

This weekend we went and did some shopping and she got to go to the park along with her new shades which she loves! I love that she loves to be outside and hates coming in!

3) Missed naptime 😬

Sometimes when your having so much fun you might miss your nap and then crash hard!! Play hard = sleep hard.
Makayla has been so much fun lately. She is turning into the most hilarious little girl. She plays well with other kids, says funny things, acts funny, and has finally become a good sleeper. She still likes to cuddles every once in a while

But usually likes to sleep with all her “babies”

We are definitely ready for spring to come and stay!!

Life lately

Well I have taken a step back and really took sometime to enjoy everything going on in our lives lately.

Makayla is at such a fun age it has been a blast! Somedays a frustrating on because she knows what she wants and just can’t tell us but she is getting better!

She is turning into a great helper. She loves throwing her diapers away after she gets changed. And if we ask her to carry something to the other one she smiles and literally runs it to them 😀. Hopefully this trend continues!!

She also loves her stuffed animals and loves might be an understatement. She sleeps with 4, she drags them through the house, tried to feed them. We have to give everyone a kiss good night before putting her to bed. It is hilarious but hey if it helps her sleep I’m in!!

Well here are some random photos of things we have been doing lately

Coloring at supper with Daddy which was more like playing with the box

Cheese!! Actually it was more like I got pancakes today lucky me!!

Meeting Cy for the first time. Definitely ❤️d him from a distance

First ISU game. We went to the isu volleyball game and she loved all the action. She even got a volleyball to bring home and we play catch every night.

Just lounging with monkey before bed

Being such a big girl with my ponytail 😢 where did my baby go!?!

Weekend Highlights

Well we had quite the weekend this past weekend. It was filled with some ups, and downs and more ups 🙂

Friday night:

As I lay in bed (at 8:00 oops!) I got a phone call from Andrew, in the racing world an early phone call usually means not good! And I was right! Andrew rolled his race car three times in the heat race, thankfully he walked away and was un-hurt but after seeing the video I’m glad I wasn’t there. Scary!!!

Here’s the link if you want to watch it!

Saturday

On Saturday morning my parents came over to watch miss Makayla while Andrew and I along with our friend Adam went on a nice little 30 mile bike ride. I forgot to get any pictures but we had a great time…on the way home! The way out was a little rough since it was uphill and into the wind but we survived and so did Makayla and my parents 😀

Sunday

Sunday was filled with errand running, graduation party, and getting caught up at home. I did find this at the grocery store and was pretty excited because I never can find anything with my name on it 😀

Score!!

Also this weekend we had someone practicing getting around because WE HAVE A CRAWLER! She just do goes goes goes. She is such a little ham! She so recently started sitting up in her crib and just grins ear to ear when you walk in because she’s so proud of herself. That girl just melts my heart 🙂

Life Lately

Sorry for all the silence lately however life has been very exciting around our house lately and maybe slightly crazy!!

First and foremost the most exciting news; after 3 years of lots of hard work, sacrifices, months away from home, and hours doing homework I have completed my graduate program!!!! It feels so great to have this huge bucket list item checked off. I can’t wait to walk across the stage in May. I will miss my classmates and always knowing when I’ll get to see them next but I’m looking forward to spending my summer with Makayla and enjoying my time with her.

My portfolio on google docs all complete

  “Handing” in my final project

In other news I was nominated for the LIebster Award by Kyley Leger.  Thank Kyley! This award is passed around the blogging community for people with fewer than 200 followers to help get them some recognition.  Here are 11 facts about me and then 11 questions I am to answer.

Here are my questions to answer:

  1. Why did you start blogging? I started blogging as a way family to be able to keep track or in contact with what is happening in our lives since they live far away.
  2. What’s your nighttime routine? Well we start at around 7 or 7:30 with either a bath (every other night) or just straight to jammies.  Once we are in our jammies we nurse and then read some bedtime stories before nursing one more time and then head to bed.

  4. What’s your favorite season? Why? Well I have 2 I love summer because I love the nice weather and being able to spend time outside and have tons of things to go do, however I also love fall because I enjoy the leaves changing colors and football!!!
  5. If you had a week off and unlimited funds, where would you go? I would go to California to stay with my aunt Ann, we went to visit her in Seattle and it was a ball so I’m sure we would have fun in California!!
  6. What’s the last thing you did for yourself? I got a pedicure with my friend Jonell after Makayla was born.

  8. What advice would you give 21-year-old you? Just relax and have fun it will all work out in the end.
  9. What’s your favorite recipe? Lately I am in to putting chicken breast in the crock pot with chicken broth, salt, pepper, garlic salt, and Kickin’ chicken seasoning then shredding it and having bbq chicken sandwiches, buffalo chicken sandwiches, and adding rice, beans, salsa, and cheese to have in tacos. easy and so good!!
  10. Where do you want to be in 10 years? Happy!
  11. How do you find time to blog? I usually blog at night after Makayla has gone to bed or on the weekends, its a nice way for me to get out my thoughts and keep track of all the things Makayla is doing!
